Perdue gets gold medal

Lauren Perdue is golden.

The Greenville native and 2009 J.H. Rose graduate earned a gold medal Wednesday for her role on the U.S. 4x200-meter women’s freestyle relay team. Perdue swam in the team’s preliminary race in the morning, but was not picked for the final.

All six of the team members — Perdue, Missy Franklin, Dana Vollmer, Shannon Vreeland, Allison Schmitt and Alyssa Anderson — received medals for their efforts.
