The Obama administration proposed at least 80 new regulations the day after Thanksgiving (go ahead and give ‘em a scroll-through for some good times), adding to the now 1,773 proposed in the last thirty days. …But tax hikes on the wealthy and more government spending are what we need to get our economy going again. Uh-huh.

As the old soviet union showed, the power to tax is the power to destroy. However, it is also true that the power to regulate is also the power to destroy. It must be done judiciously and with restraint; but often this is not the case. While the left screams fro banning lobbyists, in fact my own experience is that unless affected industries point out the flaws in these proposals, many stupid counterproductive things get mandated and once a regulation is set in stone it is a monumental effort to get it changed.
The price of freedom is eternal vigilence when it comes to regulations as well.

69 are merely notices: Asking for public comments, answering questions, providing guidance, notice of appointment, notice of meeting, notice of new publications, etc. or just clarifications on other inter-agency communication. Yeah, regulation. Hey, some bureaucrat said hi to another one, let’s whine about it!
Only 8 are rules and 3 are proposed rules. Of those 3 are corrections!

You are obviously a member of the Excuserati (which includes the MSM and the other usual suspects).
It is also apparent that you have never run a business. If you had, you would know that EVERY “proposed” regulation affects your ability to raise capital and/or run your business. This is because people…especially those with brains and ambition enough to run businesses, as well as financial institutions who finance them, and other businesses which supply them…don’t just sit and wait to be shorn like sheep or killed off by the regulatory wolves: they proactively protect themselves from impending harm.
That is why the mere PROSPECT of regulations caused by the Obamacare monster has already devastated the jobs market, and will continue to do so until the monster is killed or tamed.

You think you are very smart, but you can’t tell the difference between 8 rules and 80. Neither could Hotair. I doubt someone who can’t work with very elementary math is capable of running a business, unless it’s a matter of running it to the ground and then blaming government regulations they imagined.
Blames MSM, blames government, can’t count past 3. Typical conservative.

One is too many but the vast majority of those are not regulations at all. May want to adjust this post to reflect the actual # of regs. Looks to be no more than 10% of the # you are stating.

The real point of this was that the government witheld what they intended to do until after the election. Since regualtions do not have to pass congress, there is little the public can do once the President is reelected. And do not kid yourself things put under guidance are often regulations in disguise. Guidance does not require advanced notice of proposed rulemaking, proposed rules or public hearings. In guidance the government can claim that concentrations of “not detectable” must be treated as half the limit of detection and then add up all these non-detects and claim a body of water is exceeding the amount of input necessary to to exceed the water quality number and thus preclude new dischargers; all without anyone measuring anything. They can make a defacto rule that all forklift drivers must wear seatbelts without anything in regulation by just interpreting that if use of seatbelts is recommended by the manufacturer’s owner’s manual that it is then citable by OSHA if you do not wear them. No opportunity for comment. When public comment is requested you better get your opinion in because it shows what they are thinking about doing and yes, that alone can be chilling.
Regulatory power avoids most of the democractic process and thus the citizens are forced to surrender freedom with little resource but to scream bloody murder and demand redress. However, when Erica does precisely that, you insult her like questioning is out of bounds.

He could put live kittens in a blender on live TV, and they’d be explaining that, since a good home could not be found for them, it was really the humane thing to do.

Well, is this news? Wouldn’t any administration be issuing rules? Incidentally, when they say “proposed”, they just mean they are draft – I am sure approval process depends on the department.
I searched on any rule currently open for comment – 201 as of today.
They probably have to record all comments but I doubt if those comments make any difference to approval.
From a journalistic point of view, I would point out only those that have political impact, so the analysis is incomplete and there’s nothing to evaluate. Is 80 a high number? I have no idea. What’s the normal level?

And I’m not sure you understand editing for length. We can have a quick lesson, I suppose. Can you point out where the edit detracted from your statement or somehow made it mean something other than what you’d written?
If not, then it’s not an improper edit. Especially if a link back to the original thread was given. That’s a crash course, but a local community college could probably help more if you’re interested in furthering the idea.
