Joe Underwood Teach-a-Thon

Dear Friends:

Please sponsor me and my friend, CBS4's Eliott Rodriguez! Eliott is raising money for teachers and students in our public schools - in particular - we are raising funds for my classroom at Miami High.

It’s all part of The Education Fund’s 2012 Celebrity Teach-A-Thon, a walk-a-thon with a twist.

Eliott gets to walk in the shoes of a teacher, while raising funds for my classroom!

This year’s theme: Celebrity Teach-a-Thon is all about treating our teachers like celebrities! So, join us as we roll out the red carpet for teachers by supporting their classrooms and recognizing the important role they play.

With your sponsorship, teachers will:

  • Get the supplies they need for their students,
  • Purchase teaching aids, inspirational items for students, production materials
  • And, receive funding to support field trips, art projects, and innovative hands-on activities through The Education Fund’s grant programs for teachers.
  • As you may know, teachers regularly spend anywhere from $300 to $900 of their own money on teaching supplies and instructional materials. Since 2008, our public schools have suffered severe budget cuts, leaving teachers with smaller budgets for classroom supplies and stagnant salaries over the past four years.

Your participation will make a big difference in making teachers feel valued and supported!

Please make your tax-deductible contribution to The Education Fund’s 2012 Celebrity Teach-A-Thon now! You’ll not only support our teachers, but also invest in our children’s future.

Learn more about the campaign by visiting The Education Fund’s Web site at www.educationfund.org.

Thank you for supporting my volunteer efforts and those of Eliott Rodriguez. He promises to let you know if he survives his day in the classroom.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Joe Underwood

P.S. Did you know The Education Fund is a nationally recognized non-profit that has provided more than $38 million in cash and services to Miami-Dade County public schools, teachers and students, including distributing $6 million in free classroom supplies, awarding over $2 million in classroom grants, providing more than 10,000 needy students with computers, ensuring 228,000 hours of one-on-one tutoring for struggling students and much, much more?

P.P.S. No amount is too little – it’s the support that counts!
