William Cox Redfield (1858–1932) served as a Democratic Representative from New York in the U.S. Congress, 1911–1913. He was the first U.S. Secretary of Commerce, installed as head the newly-created department by President Woodrow Wilson in 1913. He held the position until his resignation late in 1919.
