Annie and I are getting ready for a record crowd of 40 who will gather with us for a potluck Thanksgiving celebration today. As we join together with family and friends to celebrate this uniquely American holiday, it's a great opportunity to reflect on how much we have to be thankful for.
We're so grateful for friends like you who have encouraged and supported us, for family traditions and favorite foods, and, more than anything, for the men and women at home and abroad who keep us safe. We're also mindful of those who have come through hard times this year, and for all who struggle for peace and justice.
We have difficult decisions to make in the weeks ahead, and it is my hope that when this holiday ends, we can return to Congress and find a path of constructive compromise that deals with our fiscal challenges and strengthens our country for the future.
Thank you for your friendship and your advice, and for believing in our future together. We are so grateful for all the hopes and prayers you have shared with us, and for the prospect of better days ahead.
