Udall: Comprehensive Immigration Reform, DREAM Act Should be Top Priorities for President, Congress
Mark Udall called on President Obama and Congress today to make passing comprehensive immigration reform and the DREAM Act top priorities looking ahead to the upcoming lame-duck session and the 113th Congress.
“America is better and stronger because of its immigrants. The voters sent a clear message on Election Day that we need to renew the promise of the American Dream and make comprehensive immigration reform and the DREAM Act among our top priorities after we get our fiscal house in order,” Udall said. “These issues are too important for Colorado businesses and families to languish on the back-burner over the next four years.”
Comprehensive immigration reform and the DREAM Act have broad support throughout Colorado, including from business leaders, religious leaders, agricultural communities, Latino leaders, and others.
“The president has said that he wants to pass comprehensive immigration reform during his second term,” Udall added. “I take him at his word and will do everything I can to make it a reality.”
Udall has been a vocal supporter of comprehensive immigration reform, the DREAM Act and the president’s deferred-action plan. To learn more about how to apply for deferred action, click HERE.
