Relief fund, website set up by Gov. Christie

TRENTON- A relief fund called Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund has been established to raise funds and resources to help New Jersey families impacted by the devastation of the storm, and today, Sunday, Nov. 4, Gov. Chris Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie today announced the launch of a website for the fund.

Residents can visit www.SandyNJReliefFund.org to make donations online.
“As recovery efforts continue, we know that even greater needs will become apparent for our families who have been impacted so deeply and extensively by this disaster,” said Governor Christie in announcing the fund yesterday.

“New Jerseyans are not only tough and resilient – as we’ve already seen powerfully through the storm and initial recovery period – they are caring, generous and kind. Above all, we are a community and we take care of each other. As the recovery proceeds over the weeks and months, this fund – and now this website – will give fellow New Jerseyans and those around the country an avenue to contribute to our efforts to assist our neighbors and communities through the recovery period.”

While New Jersey remains in the initial stages of recovery, helping New Jerseyans return as close to normalcy as quickly as possible, recovering from the devastation of Sandy will take much more time, resources, and assistance to families who need it. The Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund will provide a critical mechanism to collect donations and assistance and provide assistance to families who have been effected by the destruction of the storm.
"Hurricane Sandy has brought unthinkable devastation to parts of our Garden State, destroying homes, businesses and some of New Jersey’s most identifiable icons,” said First Lady Mary Pat Christie, who serves as Chair of the Fund.

“The images and stories of the damage are heartbreaking. In the aftermath, we must support and help our friends, neighbors and so many others impacted by the storm. The Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund is an important ways to help our citizens rebuild their lives."
