WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins announced the names of the Kansas 2nd Congressional District students who will receive her nomination for appointment to the U.S. Service Academies.

“The U.S. Service Academies offer students the academic and professional training essential to serve our nation, and the principles necessary to excel in the American military. I am extremely proud to nominate these students, and it is my hope these talented and honorable young leaders will represent our state in the service academies. Congratulations to each nominee and I wish them the best in their future education.”

Congresswoman Jenkins was aided in the nomination process by her non-partisan Military Academy Nominations Board made up of six distinguished Kansans who have graduated from the service academies or have years of military experience and leadership.  While a considerable honor, Congresswoman Jenkins’ nomination does not guarantee admission to a service academy. The nominees will now compete for a space in the 2017 class, and the service academies will make the final decisions on appointments.
