  1. It is a tremendous honor to announce the nominations of these outstanding Kansans to a United States Service Academy. The caliber of these nominees is impressive, and once again our district will be very well represented. These young men and women represent the highest degree or service to our country, and their desire to enter a U.S. Service Academy is to be greatly admired. I wish them the very ...

  2. Our thoughts and prayers are with the civilians and innocent victims who've been injured and killed in the escalating violence in Israel and the Gaza Strip. A short time ago, the House unanimously passed H.Res. 813, which expresses the House's vigorous support and unwavering commitment to the welfare, security, and survival of the State of Israel.
  3. I spoke on the House floor earlier today about the need for bipartisanship and cooperation now that we're back in Washington. We have serious issues that need to be resolved and both Democrats and Republicans need to come to the table with open ears and open minds.

ears old – these risk takers are the key to our economic prosperity. Simply put, if they don’t grow and expand, then neither will our economy. November 12-16 is Global Entrepreneurship Week and a great time to highlight the innovation and creativity taking place in America everyday. Special thanks to the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation for their support of small business owners. We're fortunate to have them right here in our community.

s Civility Award is a tremendous honor. I believe in treating people with respect and dignity. Especially in an environment like Washington, D.C., civility and respect are needed to bring people together to work on finding positive solutions to our nation’s problems. In any capacity, I believe you get things done when you respect those who you work with and approach problem solving with open ears and an open mind.

  10. I attended several events today honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans. I spoke at the World War I Liberty Memorial Veterans Day event earlier and it was a tremendous honor to thank these brave men and women for what they have done for our country. 11. We cannot thank our veterans enough for what they and their families sacrifice for their country. Their bravery and heroism in the name of freedom and democracy around the world is truly remarkable, and we will never be able to say “Thank You” enough. Today is Veterans Day, and recognizing veterans on this day is the very least we can do to voice our gratitude for these brave men and women.
  12. Thank you to the Women's Chamber of Commerce of KCK for inviting me to their 12th Annual Veterans Day Commemoration event today. I was honored to join Unified Government Mayor Joe Reardon, community leaders, and the outstanding Sumner Academy Chorale to extend our gratitude to the many veterans who attended. We thanked them for their service to our great nation. Thank you to Melissa Bynum for the invitation.
