Millions without power. Destructive winds. Lives lost. Hurricane Sandy likely will become one of the costliest hurricanes on record.  CDP is actively tracking Hurricane Sandy recovery, including NGO and donor response. More.

CDP partnered with the Council on Foundations for a teleconference Thursday  afternoon. Watch this space for a link to the audio recording. On the roster: Robert G. Ottenhoff; Lori J. Bertman, president and CEO of the Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Foundation; Lee Siler, senior manager, Disaster Relief, Walmart Foundation; and others.

Hurricane Sandy Donor Response

In times of disaster, donors tend to be especially generous. Gifts may come from corporations, family foundations, and individuals, and may range from millions of dollars to goods or services in kind.

It would be foolhardy to believe that we could post all gifts given in Hurricane Sandy relief. The following list, however, is provided by The Foundation Center, a trusted CDP partner. Please note that these gifts support immediate relief by humanitarian agencies currently responding to this disaster. Needs will continue to emerge, however, and CDP will continue to highlight ways private philanthropy can play a larger role over a longer continuum of time.

Check back for regular updates; may it serve as inspiration for your own gift-giving efforts.
