In a ceremony held this afternoon in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol, leaders of the U.S. House and Senate presented a Congressional Gold Medal to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in recognition of her steadfast commitment to human rights and for promoting freedom, peace, and democracy in Burma.

On July 24, 1998, Officer Jacob J. Chestnut and Detective John M.
