Centuries ago, a small band of Jews drove the Syrian-Greeks out of the Jewish Holy Land of Jerusalem and reclaimed their temple. "They rose up against the oppressors and liberated Jerusalem," Rabbi Yerachmiel Gorelik, a rabbi of the Chabad of Northern Colorado in Fort Collins, said. On that long ago day, the Jewish people had enough purified oil to light their seven-branched menorah candle for one night. Instead, the candle lasted eight nights until new oil could be prepared. A menorah lighting ceremony to honor this miracle of oil will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Loveland Museum/Gallery, 503 N. Lincoln Ave.   Full Story
