Brig. Gen. David J. Buck is the Vice Commander, U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The USAFWC's mission is to shape the way our forces fight through operational testing, tactics development, and advanced training in air, space, and cyberspace at the operational and tactical levels. The center provides a means to equip the force with proven technology, current tactics, advanced academic training and an opportunity to practice integrated force employment. The center executes five tasks: it certifies weapon systems for combat; develops joint, integrated, combat employment tactics for the Air Force, U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps; graduates advanced warfighting experts from six unique schools; provides joint, integrated exercise venues for Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Army units; and delivers solutions to immediate combat problems and new innovations to all warfighters. The USAFWC is organized under Air Combat Command into four wings and one named activity with more than 10,000 Airmen serving in the 53rd Wing, 57th Wing, 99th Air Base Wing, 505th Command and Control Wing and The Nevada Test and Training Range.

General Buck received his commission in 1986 as a distinguished graduate of Officer Training School. His career has spanned a wide variety of operational, test and evaluation and staff assignments. His operational experience includes missile operations, space launch, satellite command and control, space force enhancement and space control. General Buck has served on The Joint Staff as principal military adviser to The Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff for Coalition Management and the Deputy Director for Plans and Programs, Headquarters Air Force Space Command where he formulated the command's Program Objective Memorandum. Prior to his current assignment, he served a one-year deployment as the Director of Space Forces for U.S. Air Forces Central, Southwest Asia.

General Buck has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels.
