Brig. Gen. James R. Hogue is the mobilization assistant to the Commander, Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. He is responsible for the integration of Air Force Reserve Command assets supporting Flight Test Center activities. The center directs the development, test, and evaluation of manned and unmanned aircraft systems; the testing of experimental and research aerospace vehicles and parachute systems as well as aerodynamic deceleration devices; the operation of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School; and the development, control and operation of the Edwards Flight Test Range.

General Hogue graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1976. He has flown the C-141A at McChord AFB, Wash., including airlift missions throughout the Far East and Europe, and the CT-39A at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. As a special air mission instructor pilot, he flew from as far north as Bodo, Norway, to as far south as Nairobi, Kenya, landing at more than 170 different civilian and military airports in between. Following his three and a half years in Germany, he returned to the U.S. Air Force Academy, serving as head coach of both the men's water polo team and the men's and women's swimming teams. During this time, he amassed more than 900 hours flying the UV-18B for the Wings of Blue, the U.S. Air Force Academy cadet parachute team.

The general left active duty in 1989, holding various positions in the Admission Liaison Officer Program in Kentucky and California and serving as the Director of the Academy Liaison Officer Program in Indiana. His commands include an active-duty group, the 88th Mission Support Group, and the 438th Air Expeditionary Group in Southwest Asia. He has also served as Vice Commander of the 88th Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, for three months. General Hogue is a command pilot with more than 14,000 hours in more than 25 different aircraft. As a civilian, he is a pilot for a major airline.
