Since 1789, 17 Presidents and 34 major presidential nominees have served in the U.S. House of Representatives at some point in their careers. The chart below shows the rooms used by the five Presidents and six major nominees whose careers included House service following the introduction of office buildings in the Congress. Presidents are identified in bold. Office assignments provided are the numbers currently used for a given room.
