  1. Celebrating our veterans should never be limited to one day.
Our vets are to be treasured and while we set aside November 11th to honor them, there truly is no day on the calendar that is not a good day to extend our gratitude to someone who has donned a military uniform in service to us. Every vet I meet is a blessing. So I can’t say it enough, Thank you!
  2. I will be joining Larry Kudlow tonight on CNBC's Kudlow Report at 6p Texas time to discuss the looming tax cliff.
  3. LOOKING AHEAD TO THE LAME DUCK: House Republicans believe it would be irresponsible for the President or either party in Congress to voluntarily drive the government off the fiscal cliff. The damage to America's weak economy could be significant.
President Obama does not have a mandate to raise taxes. The strong re-election of a Republican House makes it clear the American public rejects taking m...
ore of what families or small businesses earn. Since the President has spent the last four years dividing the nation, he holds a special obligation to begin to heal the nation by working with us to find solutions that can pass both the House and the Senate.
Stronger economic growth from tax reform that lowers rates and closes loopholes will generate higher revenue to bring the deficit down. That needs to be coupled with reforms that preserve Social Security & Medicare and authentic spending restraint. Balance = economic growth and spending cuts.

  4. The final economic report of the Obama presidency is in. It’s official – on job creation President Obama's recovery ranks dead last in modern times. His failure over four years to achieve merely an average recovery means 3.7 million more Americans are unnecessarily searching for work this morning and our nation's budget deficit is twice as high as it needed to be.
  5. The October Jobs numbers will be released at 7:30a Texas time. I will be joining Bill Bennett's Morning in America radio show to break them down at 7:35a. The show airs in Houston on NewsTalk 1070 KNTH.

  7. The Red Cross, as always, is going to be a huge part of the Hurricane Sandy recovery.
LIKE if your thoughts and prayers go out to those in the path of hurricane Sandy and please consider donating to the Red Cross!

  8. Please continue to keep our fellow Americans in the path of this storm in your thoughts and prayers. And don't forget our Texas electricity workers that are heading north to help get the power back on to millions. This is the spirit of America. Linemen from all over the country came to Texas to help after Hurricanes such as Rita and Ike and now Texans are returning that kindness.
  9. Is the problem that we need a Secretary of 'Business'? Or is the problem that we have too much red tape, unbalanced regulations and a rapidly approaching tax cliff?
  10. Please join me in keeping those in Hurricane Sandy's path in your thoughts and prayers.
  11. I will be joining Larry Kudlow on his national radio show this hour. You can listen live here.
  12. If President Obama had led merely an average economic recovery rather than the weakest recovery since WWII, this year's federal budget deficit would be cut by more than half. And if Obama had achieved a Reagan-style recovery, the deficit would be two-thirds smaller.

  14. The Obama recovery remains the worst recovery this nation has witnessed since World War II. Anemic economic growth is a major contributor to our nation’s budget deficit and burgeoning national debt. The President could have met his pledge to cut the deficit in half if he had put pro-growth policies in place.
  15. FACT CHECK - While media outlets are reporting that 80 business CEO's have signed a letter by Fix the Debt calling for higher taxes and spending restraint, an actual read of their letter reveals the truth. The business leaders DID NOT call ...
for higher tax increases (as proposed by President Obama) but higher tax revenues from "comprehensive pro-growth tax reform"revenues (proposed by Romney, House Republicans). Here's the text of the actual letter:

"Policy makers should acknowledge that our growing debt is a serious threat to the economic well-being and security of the United States. It is urgent and essential that we put in place a plan to fix America's debt. An effective plan must stabilize the debt as a share of the economy, and put it on a downward path.

This plan should be enacted now, but implemented gradually to protect the fragile economic recovery and to give Americans time to prepare for the changes in the federal budget.

In order to develop a fiscal plan that can succeed both financially and politically, it must be bipartisan and reforms to all areas of the budget should be included.

    The plan should:

    - Reform Medicare and Medicaid, improve efficiency in the overall health care system and limit future cost growth;
    - Strengthen Social Security, so that it is solvent and will be there for future beneficiaries; and
    - Include comprehensive and pro-growth tax reform, which broadens the base, lowers rates, raises revenues and reduces the deficit.
    - The recommendations of the bipartisan Simpson-Bowles Commission, which saved $4 trillion and addressed all parts of the budget, provide an effective framework for such a plan.

The plan should be conducive to long-term economic growth, protect the vulnerable, include credible enforcement mechanisms to ensure that debt reduction is achieved and leave the next generation better."
