Posted to: News Politics

Three Congressman who represent Hampton Roads and U.S. Senator Mark Warner have been honored by the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Randy Forbes, Scott Rigell and Rob Wittman received the Friend of Farm Bureau award for the 112th Congress, according to a Farm Bureau Virginia news release. Those honored were nominated by the state Farm Bureau and approved by the Board of Directors of the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Rigell represents Virginia Beach and part of Norfolk and Hampton. Forbes represents Chesapeake. Wittman represents Newport News and Williamsburg.

The award is given based on voting records, the number of bills that a member has sponsored and co-sponsored, leadership roles on Farm Bureau priority issues and how accessible and responsive members are to Farm Bureau members and leaders, the release said.

The Farm Bureau is an independent, non-governmental, voluntary organization. It is run by and representing farm and ranch families.

U.S. Reps. Eric Cantor, Bob Goodlatte, Morgan Griffith, Robert Hurt and Frank Wolf also received the honor from Virginia.
