AUSTRIA INVITES FEDERAL OFFICIALS TO TOUR CALAMITYVILLE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) voiced his continued support for the Calamityville project and Wright State University and invited the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Director of FEMA to tour Calamityville.

“We have tremendous opportunity to develop a national site like Calamityville in our area and will benefit our entire nation by training first providers,” Congressman Austria stated.

The Honorable Deputy Secretary of the DHS Jane Holl Lute and FEMA Director W. Craig Fugate were testifying before the House Homeland Security Committee.  During the course of the hearing Congressman Austria brought up the unique and important work being done by Wright State University Center for Medical Readiness and invited both the deputy secretary and the director to Ohio to visit the site and learn more about the project.

“I am proud Ohio will be the home of the nation’s premier training, education, and research facility to help train our first providers,” Congressman Austria said. “Ensuring our medical personnel are just as prepared for an emergency as our first responders is an integral part of the global medical readiness formula.”

The groundbreaking for Calamityville was in late September.
