Hey Joe! Hope you are staying safe, Geraldine O'Brien from the Irish Center in Mineola here... Wondering if you have some advice...my four cousins are out from Co. Clare for citizenship interviews tomorrow at Federal Plaza, they are due to go back on Weds. Their dad and grandparents are US citizens, so that's all set, but given the weather, I'm a bit nervous for them, especially the oldest one who turns 18 in a few months... Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and stay safe-Geraldine

President Obama declared parts of NY - including Queens and the Bronx - a major disaster, making federal funding available to residents and businesses in these areas. Be sure to register at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.
Today I visited the WTC health center at Elmhurst Hospital to meet with 9/11 survivors treated under the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. We must do all we can to strengthen these critical health programs, not allow the funding that supports this care to be cut under sequestration. Not only was sequestration a reckless move, but the fact that our 9/11 heroes may have to pay the price is unacceptable.
Thrilled the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in NYC ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional. Marriage equality is a fundamental right for all American families.
