UTEP Awarded $600K from the
Department of Health and Human Services

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Silvestre Reyes (D-Texas) announced The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) was awarded $604,925 in federal funds from the Department of Health and Human Services for scholarships for underserved students.

"These scholarships will help provide more El Pasoans access to education, so they can become the next generation of doctors, scientists, engineers, professors and researchers," Congressman Reyes said.  "Education can open new doors and opportunities for all, and that is why I am a staunch supporter of scholarships and opportunities for those who most need them.”

"I will continue to work with UTEP, the Department of Health and Human Services and other federal agencies to ensure we steer federal funding for higher education in El Paso," Congressman Reyes said.

The Department of Health and Human Services is the United States government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.
