Media Advisory: Secretary Napolitano to Join Chairman King for Visit to Long Island Communities Affected by Hurricane Sandy

 Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Peter T. King, Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, will be joined by Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano in visiting Long Island communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.  King and Napolitano will spend about three hours visiting severely affected communities in Nassau and Suffolk counties, where they will meet with local residents. Following that, they will meet with county and town officials.  Secretary Napolitano and Chairman King, as well as other state and local officials, will participate in a media availability at 5 p.m.

The schedule will be updated with additional location information throughout the day.

King said: “Long Island has suffered tremendous loss and devastation as a result of Hurricane Sandy.  Later today, Secretary Napolitano will see first-hand the damage left in Hurricane Sandy’s wake, and the tremendous recovery effort we face.  However, this visit will also allow Long Island to show our spirit and vitality, and demonstrate that we will come back stronger than before.”
