Roe Statement on Repeal of the IPAB
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congressman Phil Roe, M.D. (TN-01) released the following statement on his efforts to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB):
“In a letter to House Republican colleagues, Majority Leader Eric Cantor underscored the importance of the repeal of the IPAB. I introduced bipartisan legislation to repeal the IPAB because I have serious concerns that this unelected, unaccountable bureaucracy could have devastating effects on our seniors’ access to care. I agree with the Leader when he says, ‘There are some issues that I suspect Senator Reid will have a difficult time compelling his members to oppose outright.’
“We all agree it is time to find common ground and work together on a path forward for this country. My legislation has strong support on both sides of the aisle, and I think it is possible within the current political environment to make this critical change.”
