      A very old photo. The woman looks like she has numerous feelings about what she photographing. A very clear, presentation of different shades of greys to black.
      It is lovely. It looks like it could be in an Art Museum.

      Is the subject Marion Carpenter first female White House photographer?

      She does bear some resemblance to Marion Carpenter, you're right! It does not appear Ms. Carpenter came to Washington until 1944, and this photograph was taken in May 1943, so it's likely not a match. Any other images or information which could confirm or deny such an identification would be welcome, of course! Thanks for the comment.
