On Tuesday night the American people once again participated in the democratic process at an unprecedented rate. States across the country witnessed voter turnout at record numbers, and voters stayed in lines for hours beyond the closing of their polls. This is a testament to the trust the American people continue to place in us, their elected officials, to make decisions that will move the country in a positive direction.
Now, there is still much work to do. Our country faces serious fiscal challenges that require us to work with and not against each other. Partisan bickering, division, and failure to compromise will prohibit us from moving this great country forward. The American people deserve and have demanded better from us. We voted for jobs, not cuts on Tuesday Night.
