The "wife of Controller William Prendergast" is mentioned as being involved in a Congressional Union suffrage rally in April 1915--with Doris Stevens, Mrs. WIlliam Colt, and Crystal Eastman Benedict, Mrs. John Rogers, and Inez Milholland Boissevain.

Assuming they mean the Controller of New York, his name was William A. Prendergast, and his wife was the former Mary Agnes Hull.
Mrs. William L. Colt was among the Congressional Union members arrested at a White House protest.

The woman in the driver's seat here is the same as the woman labeled Mrs. Boissevain in this photo:

But the Mrs. W. L. Colt there doesn't seem the match the one here?

Suffragettes. Alice Paul and Doris Stevens were noted feminists. Others are Mrs. William Colt and Mrs. William Prendergast.

The Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage held a meeting of the Advisory Council in New York City in March 1915.

Just prior to their visit to Senator O'Gorman on April 30, 1915,
Sen. O'Gorman & Suffreagettes: Mrs. Boissevain, Mrs. W.L. Colt (LOC)
the women held a rally headed by two decorated cars in front of what is now called Federal Hall, 26 Wall Street, New York City. It was then the Sub-Treasury building, and was built in 1842 as the New York Customs House.

The statue behind them is of George Washington and marks the approximate spot of his inauguration as President.

Thanks to all of you for your research. We'll see if we can resolve the question of Mrs. W.L. Colt between the two photographs, pennylrichardsca, before we update the records.

I think this Yonkers death notice from October, 1974 is our Mrs. Colt (the driver of the car):

COLT—Hannah Dunlop of Bronxville, N.Y. on October 4, 1974. Wife of the late William L. Colt. Aunt of Simpson Dunlop of Eslacada, Oregon , and the late Mrs. William P. Brooks of Darien, Conn. Services at the Reformed Church of Bronxville on Wednesday October 9 at 1 p.m. Instead of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the United Negro College Fund Inc. 55 East 52nd St., New York, N.Y.

I don't think this is Hannah Dunlop Colt--Hannah Dunlop Andrews married William L. Colt in 1922; either he had a first wife who was also an activist, or there were two WIlliam L. Colts (maybe related). Or, possibly, these images were labeled after 1922?

Ok, it seems like pennylrichardsca has it. I found an obit for Elizabeth White Colt, wife of William L. Colt, who died in Bronxville in July, 1919. So Hannah Colt was the second Mrs. William L. Colt.
