  1. As co-chairman of the Congressional Shipbuilding Caucus, I am looking forward to taking part in the christening of the MINNESOTA (SSN 783), our tenth Virginia-class submarine, at a ceremony this weekend in Newport News. Our Navy is the greatest in the world, and the expertise of our shipbuilding industrial base is second to none. Congratulations to the U.S. Navy and the great folks at Hungtington Ingalls in Newport News.

Rob, just read that hundreds of thousands of military ballots were delivered one day after the deadline. Those ballots could have swung the election! Why did this happen? Can you find out? It is beyond shameful that our military had their collective voice silenced in this election.

    • Congrats! Now we need you to continue the fight for veteran rights and keep our military services funded and ready to defend our home against our enemies. We can't nickel and dime defense spending. We will regret it in the future. History repeats itself. We cut military spending after every conflict then had to rebuild. We in the first district are behind you.

    • Congratulations on your election for another term. You are certainly a great representative of the people and am proud to be part of your district. Look forward to your next visit to AP Hill.

    • Congratulations, Rob. The people of the first district still want you to represent them. I hope you will take advantage of your new full term to follow your conscience not the dictates of your party. Please urge your fellow representatives to seek real cooperation and compromise as intended by the Constitution to prevent short-sighted interests from controlling our future. Stop the social engineering of the Bush tax code that causes the rich to get richer and the middle class to dwindle. Accept that, though imperfect, the Affordable Care Act helps all Americans and limits big insurance and big pharma from making decisions about individual health care, based solely on profits. Recognize everybody's right to privacy and freedom of religion by allowing women to choose how they want to manage their family planning without government interference. Support business regulation that protects individuals and small businesses from predatory practices by unscrupulous competitors and financiers. Represent active and retired military and their families, not just defense contractors. You need to lead your constituents to understand that the future of our country is dependent on our ability to blend the best policies of conservatives and liberals, government and business, rich and poor, old and young, etc. This is not the time to stir up ill-will and disrespect for opposing views. Peace on earth and good will to all.
