Camp Celebrates National Adoption Awareness Month
This past September, the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute honored Kim and Paul White of Midland as “Angels in Adoption” for their outstanding efforts as adoptive parents.  In June 2010, the Whites and their three sons warmly welcomed a young boy named Eric into their hearts and lives.  While there were challenges along the way, including a lengthy court proceeding, the White’s faith guided them and their determination ensured Eric remained in their loving home.  At the start, they were committed, caring guardians.  Today, they are loving, adoptive parents.
The White Family in Washington, D.C..
To recognize the efforts of adoptive families like the Whites and raise awareness about the number of children in need of permanent homes, each year Congressman Camp sponsors a resolution in the House of Representatives to commemorate November as National Adoption Awareness Month.  National Adoption Awareness Month, celebrated annually since 1990, works to increase the number of families willing to consider adoption and celebrates the unique joys of creating families through adoption.  To learn more about National Adoption Awareness Month, click here.

Fox News Investigates Why 20,000 Delphi Employees Lost Their Pensions
Fox News recently featured an investigative report citing a letter from Congressman Camp to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and the White House signaling a willingness to subpoena all records associated with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation’s termination of the Delphi pension plans if they decline to fully comply with a congressional request for documents.

Contrary to Treasury's assurances of no involvement, emails Camp received show that top officials at Treasury were assessing the "politically sensitive" nature of the Delphi pension plan terminations and were heavily involved in decisions to terminate the plans.  Documents show Treasury convened meetings, provided comments on draft settlement agreements, and conferred with General Motors and Delphi officials apart from the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.  Under federal law, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation is the only federal agency authorized to terminate employee pension plans in danger of insolvency.
