- Update (3 p.m. Wed): US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly still has Montgomery County officially in a "Winter Weather Advisory" until 6 a.m. Thursday. There's still a chance we could get a couple of inches of wet snow. And bridges & overpasses could get slick because temperatures have been hovering in the low to mid 30s all day. The good news is that they dropped us from the "Wind Advisory" for tonight -- which means the winds won't be howling as much as expected. How's that for a silver lining?

- US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly has placed Montgomery County under a "Winter Weather Advisory" effective 6am Wed - 6am Thu. That means we could see 1-2" or more of wet, slushy snow possibly mixing in with sleet. Since it's been relatively warm lately, it should stay on grassy surfaces. And we can't forget the winds -- we're looking at maybe 20-40 mph with higher gusts. Welcome to November!

- If this storm tracks close enough to the coast Wednesday, we could have winds between 25-45 mph -- which is almost as strong as they were during Sandy. Weakened trees and loose power lines could create a problem.
- We snapped this pic along Hollow Rd in Worcester Township this morning. Thanks to the crews from all over the U.S. working around the clock! But an even bigger thank you goes to the hundreds of thousands of Montgomery County residents who've shown patience & kindness in the aftermath of one of Mother Nature's most historic storms.
- Here are the updated power outage numbers across Montgomery County as of 6 p.m. Friday -- PECO: 32,000... PPL: 3,854... Met-Ed: 859. While we continue to inch closer to getting back on the grid, there are still many folks who may have to go without heat tonight and possibly into the weekend. Please consider checking on your neighbors to make sure everyone is okay.
- The following is the latest list of roads that areclosed in Montgomery County. The list has grown because we've had more municipalities reporting in. Many of these roads remain closed because there are power lines mixed into the trees and other storm debris and utilities are needed to respond before they can be cleared. Respect all road closures for your own safety. This list may not be complete a...nd it will change over time. Please continue to post additions, updates and corrrections.See More

Literally thousands of crews are out trying to restore service as quickly as possible. If you come across a downed wire, DO NOT approach it or attempt to move it yourself. - Here's a message from officials in Upper Dublin Township:
Due to significant storm damage, all businesses in Upper Dublin Township are encouraged to stay closed on Tuesday, October 30, or delay opening until noon at the earliest. - Early this Tuesday morning, we are still dealing with wind & rain associated with Sandy. Please consider cancelling any unnecessary travel today so crews can begin to assess the damage from the storm and continue to restore power.
- It's been a busy night in our 911 Emergency Dispatch Center. On a typical day, we handle about 2,100 calls. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, we fielded 4,017 calls -- 1,053 of them between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. during the height of Sandy.

- Our 9-1-1 call center is overwhelmed with calls right now. Many are related to the storm, so it's extremely important to keep these lines open for emergencies. If you have a non-emergency question or report, we have a staff of volunteers ready to answer your questions. Give them a call: 610-631-9700
- If you're using a NOAA weather radio to keep up with Sandy's progress, don't be alarmed if your radio suddenly goes quiet. Be sure that you use traditional (TV, radio) and newer technologies (Facebook, Twitter) to keep informed throughout the night. We'll be here right along with you. Be safe!
- We're seeing numerous reports of trees falling across Montgomery County. The winds are expected to pick up through the evening as Sandy creeps closer. Please be safe!

- Meet Zach and Rick from Fort Washington Fire Company No. 1. Please let this be the only time you see their faces during Sandy. Remember to avoid driving through *any* water that covers the road. Not only will you face a fine, points on your...license, and stiff fees if they have to come rescue you from the floodwaters... but you'll also be putting Zach and Rick (and the rest of our precious first responders) in danger. Turn around, don't drown.See More

- Want to know why everyone should take Sandy seriously? Take a look at this graphic. The red-shaded area depicts hurricane force winds (75+mph) and the orange-shaded area depicts wind speeds that are tropical storm force (40-75mph) -- which ...extend more than 500 miles from the center of the storm!! Sandy takes up a lot of real estate, which means we could begin feeling these winds Sunday evening. Please use the next 24 hours wisely.See More
- US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly has hoisted Flood Watches and High Wind Watches for us. These take effect late Sunday and last into at least late Monday. It's still too difficult to pinpoint exactly *where* we'll see the strongest winds and heaviest rain, so please continue with your Sandy preparations regardless of where you live.
