  1. Update (3 p.m. Wed): US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly still has Montgomery County officially in a "Winter Weather Advisory" until 6 a.m. Thursday. There's still a chance we could get a couple of inches of wet snow. And bridges & overpasses could get slick because temperatures have been hovering in the low to mid 30s all day. The good news is that they dropped us from the "Wind Advisory" for tonight -- which means the winds won't be howling as much as expected. How's that for a silver lining?

  3. US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly has placed Montgomery County under a "Winter Weather Advisory" effective 6am Wed - 6am Thu. That means we could see 1-2" or more of wet, slushy snow possibly mixing in with sleet. Since it's been relatively warm lately, it should stay on grassy surfaces. And we can't forget the winds -- we're looking at maybe 20-40 mph with higher gusts. Welcome to November!
  4. If this storm tracks close enough to the coast Wednesday, we could have winds between 25-45 mph -- which is almost as strong as they were during Sandy. Weakened trees and loose power lines could create a problem.
High Wind Watch, Coastal Flood Watch and Storm Watch are up in advance of the upcoming Nor'Easter. #pawx #dewx #njwx #mdwx weather.gov/phi
  5. We snapped this pic along Hollow Rd in Worcester Township this morning. Thanks to the crews from all over the U.S. working around the clock! But an even bigger thank you goes to the hundreds of thousands of Montgomery County residents who've shown patience & kindness in the aftermath of one of Mother Nature's most historic storms.

  6. Here are the updated power outage numbers across Montgomery County as of 6 p.m. Friday -- PECO: 32,000... PPL: 3,854... Met-Ed: 859. While we continue to inch closer to getting back on the grid, there are still many folks who may have to go without heat tonight and possibly into the weekend. Please consider checking on your neighbors to make sure everyone is okay.
  7. The following is the latest list of roads that areclosed in Montgomery County. The list has grown because we've had more municipalities reporting in. Many of these roads remain closed because there are power lines mixed into the trees and other storm debris and utilities are needed to respond before they can be cleared. In the event of a power outage, keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible. Move meats, cheese, milk, etc. into the freezer to stay colder longer. A partially full freezer can keep food frozen for up to 24 hours, and up to 48 hours when full.
  53. Want to know why everyone should take Sandy seriously? Take a look at this graphic. The red-shaded area depicts hurricane force winds (75+mph) and the orange-shaded area depicts wind speeds that are tropical storm force (40-75mph) -- which ...
extend more than 500 miles from the center of the storm!! Sandy takes up a lot of real estate, which means we could begin feeling these winds Sunday evening. Please use the next 24 hours wisely.
