- Update (3 p.m. Wed): US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly still has Montgomery County officially in a "Winter Weather Advisory" until 6 a.m. Thursday. There's still a chance we could get a couple of inches of wet snow. And bridges & overpasses could get slick because temperatures have been hovering in the low to mid 30s all day. The good news is that they dropped us from the "Wind Advisory" for tonight -- which means the winds won't be howling as much as expected. How's that for a silver lining?

All day and evening classes through Thursday, Nov.1st, have been cancelled. Phone and email are also unavailable. All students who had classes scheduled Monday through Thursday of this week will receive an email with rescheduled class dates. A determination on when the campus will reopen is being made on a day-to-day basis.
- There are 142,057 residents without power in Montgomery County as of 10 a.m Wednesday, Oct. 31st (PECO, 130,000; PPL, 10,078; FirstEnergy, 1,949).
- Due to the danger of unlit streetlights and house lights and storm debris, the following Montco municipalities have asked their residents to postpone Trick-or-Treating until Saturday, Nov. 3rd: Abington, Lower Moreland, Upper Dublin, East Norriton, West Norriton and Norristown.
- There are still numerous downed trees, downed wires and power outages across Montgomery County. Travel today might take a little longer than usual as you may be forced to detour from your normal routes. We thank everyone for their continued patience and understanding as crews work around the clock to get things back in service.
- The shelter at Pottstown High School has closed. The shelter at Norristown High School remains open.
- All classes at the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus, day and evening, are cancelled for Wednesday, Oct. 31st due to a power outage.
- Cheltenham Township Emergency Management has lifted the driving ban for township roads. Please use extreme caution driving in Cheltenham.
- The Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus will be closed on Wednesday October 31, 2012 for day and evening classes.
- The shelter at Cheltenham High School has closed due to a power outage.
- Montco has 18 municipalities that each have over 3,500 PECO customers without Power: Abington Cheltenham East Norriton, Horsham, Lower Gwynedd, Lower Merion, Lower Moreland, Lower Providence, Lower Salford, Montgomery Township, Skippack, Springfield, Towamencin, Upper Dublin, Upper Gwynedd, Upper Merion, West Norriton and Whitpain.
- Winds are still expected to gust 30 - 45 mph through the day, with areas of moderate rain
Small creek and stream flooding may continue through the morning, river flooding is possible - Property owners are asked to take pictures of any storm-related damage and to report it to their municipalities. The pictures will be useful for damage assessment used to determine state and federal aid and for the property owner’s insurance claims.

- If don't have to go out, please stay off the roads. Stay away from downed trees and downed power lines. Downed trees may conceal power lines.
- Many local roads are still closed, mostly due to downed trees, tree limbs and power lines. Many traffic signals are without power. Cheltenham Township has restricted traffic on township roads to emergency personnel only until further notice. Hardest hit municipalities are Cheltenham, Lower Merion, Upper Merion and Lower Providence.
- Total power outages in Montgomery County as of 6:00 a.m. Tuesday: 188,396

Literally thousands of crews are out trying to restore service as quickly as possible. If you come across a downed wire, DO NOT approach it or attempt to move it yourself. - Here's a message from officials in Upper Dublin Township:
Due to significant storm damage, all businesses in Upper Dublin Township are encouraged to stay closed on Tuesday, October 30, or delay opening until noon at the earliest. - Early this Tuesday morning, we are still dealing with wind & rain associated with Sandy. Please consider cancelling any unnecessary travel today so crews can begin to assess the damage from the storm and continue to restore power.
- It's been a busy night in our 911 Emergency Dispatch Center. On a typical day, we handle about 2,100 calls. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, we fielded 4,017 calls -- 1,053 of them between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. during the height of Sandy.
- The back edge of Sandy has begun moving into Montgomery County. Winds will continue to lash between 25-45 mph with some higher gusts into the overnight hours. If you have to venture out, please be careful and watch out for downed trees, power lines, and possible water over the road.
- Our 9-1-1 call center is overwhelmed with calls right now. Many are related to the storm, so it's extremely important to keep these lines open for emergencies. - If you're using a NOAA weather radio to keep up with Sandy's progress, don't be alarmed if your radio suddenly goes quiet. US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly says that outages are likely with the adverse weather tonight, and they'll restore service as soon as it's safe for their technicians to get out. Be sure that you use traditional (TV, radio) and newer technologies (Facebook, Twitter) to keep informed throughout the night. We'll be here right along with you. Be safe!
- We're seeing numerous reports of trees falling across Montgomery County. The winds are expected to pick up through the evening as Sandy creeps closer. Please be safe!

Norristown, PA (October 29, 2012) — Poll worker classes scheduled for today at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Lower Merion High School are cancelled. - The Grand View Hospital Outpatient Centers and Grand View Medical Practices Physician Offices will close at 2 pm today and will remain closed through Tuesday. All classes are cancelled for Monday and Tuesday.

It's still too difficult to pinpoint exactly *where* we'll see the strongest winds and heaviest rain, so please continue with your Sandy preparations regardless of where you live.
