Representative Yoder Announces Medicare Open Enrollment Workshop

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Yoder today announced he will hold a free informational workshop to assist seniors with the Medicare Open Enrollment Period, lasting from October 15th through December 7th. The workshop will include a presentation on 2013 Medicare changes. Trained volunteers with the Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK) program and officials from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will be on hand to provide face-to-face assistance to seniors who have questions. The free informational workshop will be held on Thursday, November 8th, 2012 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Lenexa Community Center.

“I want to help seniors cut through the red tape. Anyone can call 1-800-MEDICARE or go to MEDICARE.GOV, but I want to provide seniors with a face-to-face opportunity to meet with benefits counselors to enroll or make changes to their existing Medicare plans. Seniors rely on this important program and I want to do everything I can to make sure they are able to make needed changes with as little confusion as possible. I hope this informational workshop is widely attended by seniors and their caregivers,” stated Congressman Kevin Yoder.

Medicare beneficiaries who wish to make changes or enroll for the first time need to bring their Medicare card, any current prescriptions (including dosage and frequency), and a list of preferred pharmacies. This workshop is free and open to everyone. For additional information or to ask questions, please contact Congressman Yoder’s District Office at (913) 621-0832.
