  5. Earlier today, as I travelled to shoreline communities like East Lyme, Westbrook and Clinton, I saw first hand the widespread and devastating impact of Hurricane Sandy. I applaud Governor Malloy’s quick action, and that of the President, to secure federal support for our shoreline communities so soon after the storm. It will go a long way to help the hard-hit communities and families I met today, and many others across our region who are working right now to clean up and recover.

ressed to officials at the utility that it needs to pick up the pace of coordination with local officials on road clearing and power restoration.

My time on the shore today gave me a lot of firsthand experience and data to share with the White House and FEMA as they evaluate requests from our state for federal aid. There is lots of hard work still to do, and I will continue to do all I can to support our towns, our families and our businesses as we clean up and recover from this storm.

What I have seen today will help me advocate strongly for Governor Malloy's request for federal aid to help our area recovery as soon as possible.
