Detectives Investigate Vehicle Arson

Ada County Sheriff's detectives are asking for the community's help to identify a possible arson suspect.

In the early morning hours of July 14, fire was set to a Toyota Camry parked in the driveway of a home in the 8900 block of West Colt Drive. Investigators say a person or group of people broke out a window of the car, poured gasoline inside and ignited it. The fire caused extensive damage to the Camry which was a total loss. The fire was started in close proximity to the house and threatened the structure but did not cause any damage.

A neighbor captured video of the fire on her phone and shared that with detectives. The video can be seen on the ACSO YouTube channel at http://youtu.be/H-MrH_zhgII.

A black baseball cap with the word "flysociety" embroidered on the front in white was left behind at the scene of the arson, presumably by a person involved with starting the fire. The underside of the hat's bill is solid red. Photos of the hat are attached.

Detectives urge anyone with information about the owner of this baseball cap or the vehicle fire on West Colt Drive is urged to call Ada County Sheriff's detective Marc Bowman at 577-3704 or Boise Area Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

Teens use fake ID to pawn stolen bike!

Do you recognize these teens?  Ada County Sheriff’s detectives asking for your help to identify two young men who used false identification to pawn a stolen bike.

Surveillance cameras at Pawn One in Garden City captured images of the suspects on May 29. The two males, believed to be in their mid- to late-teens, pawned a bicycle that had been reported stolen a day earlier from a home in Hidden Springs.

Through the course of their investigation, deputies determined the identifying information on a driver's license presented to Pawn One during the transaction belongs to an Ada County man who has no association with the suspects. Detectives say the man had no idea his identifying information had been stolen or was being used without his permission.

The images of the suspects taken from the surveillance video are attached. Anyone with information about the males in the images is urged to call Ada County Sheriff’s detective Marc Bowman at 577-3704 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
