H.R. 6205 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage.  The legislation was introduced by Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY) on September 23, 2010.

H.Res. 6205 would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1449 West Avenue in Bronx, New York, as the “Private Isaac T. Cortes Post Office.”

Private Isaac T. Cortes, 26, of Bronx, N.Y. was assigned to 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.  He died November 27, 2007 in Amerli, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
