Appleton, WI – Representative Reid Ribble (WI-08) announced that Rachel Buckner from DePere High School won the 2012 Artistic Discovery Contest. Her entry, “Home Grown Tomatoes,” was chosen by a panel of judges as the winner and will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside the other contest winners from across the country.  The exhibit featuring all of the winners will be open until June 3, 2012 at the Neville Museum in Green Bay. Every piece of artwork in the contest was amazing,” said Ribble. “In the end, every one of these students and their dedicated art teachers are winners and are all worthy of wall space in the Capitol. This contest underscored the talent and creativity of the young adults in our community and I am honored to be a part of it. Miss Buckner, in particular, is an exemplary artist and I am proud that her work will represent northeast Wisconsin for the next year.”

The 1st runner-up, Nang Yang from Renaissance School for the Arts, will have his artwork titled “I am Hmong” on display in Congressman Ribble’s D.C. office. The 2nd and 3rd runner-ups, Nathan Brunnquell from DePere High School and Tonya Huss from Xavier High School, will have their artwork displayed in Congressman Ribble’s Wisconsin district offices.
