Agriculture
Federal agriculture policy is very important to the domestic food and fiber supply we enjoy in this country. The risk mitigation and financial security policies in place for our farmers enable the United States to maintain an adequate and affordable food and fiber supply, year after year, even when mother nature deals blows to our producers. I believe it is in the interest of this country to continue ensuring the United States has a stable supply of domestic food and fiber.
Some organizations project that the world population could eclipse 7 billion as soon as 2011. Regardless of when the population reaches 7 billion, more food and fiber will be needed to meet the increasing demands of the growing population. The 19th District of Texas is a diverse region of production agriculture that will continue to be a major supplier of food and fiber to the world. The producers I talk to are constantly updating technology and investing in their operations to make them more efficient and productive. I commend them for their efforts and I am honored to represent them here in Congress.
Currently, the House Agriculture is gearing up to begin the 2012 Farm Bill process. The funding baseline for the 2012 Farm Bill is going to require members of the Agriculture Committee to review every program within the Farm Bill and make some tough choices. As the Agriculture Committee conducts hearings across the country, I hope we hear from farmers and ranchers on which programs are working and which programs are underperforming. I believe a successful 2012 Farm Bill will be the result of agriculture organizations and associations and their members educating members of Congress of what their needs are and how far the impact of the Farm Bill goes to maintain the highest quality food and fiber supply the world has ever known. I will be certain to keep you up to date on the latest news in agriculture that will affect the 19th District of Texas.

Neugebauer Statement on 2008 Farm Bill Expiration
10/01/12"I'm very disappointed that the Farm Bill is expiring without a new five-year Farm Bill in place. Our farmers keep America fed and clothed while risking the uncertainties of weather, droughts, and rising input costs. Now, they will also have to deal
