Lamborn Honored As Friend of the Taxpayer

The nation’s oldest and largest taxpayer group has awarded Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) with the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” for his work in the 111th Congress. For the fourth year in a row, Lamborn has scored an “A” with the National Taxpayers Union (NTU).

Lamborn's 91 percent rating is based on every roll call vote affecting fiscal policy – appropriations, authorizations, and tax bills; budget target resolutions; amendments; and certain regulatory or procedural legislation that could affect overburdened taxpayers.

“At a time when our federal debt is increasing by more than $54,000 every second, we must rein in spending. Obama’s deficits are a huge drag on the economy. That money ought to be kept in the private sector, where consumers and small businesses could better spend it on goods and services. This kind of investment will help create jobs. This award recognizes the need to protect taxpayers from government overreach." –Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

“Given the multi-trillion-dollar surge in the national debt in 2009 and 2010, taxpayers are now hoping for a different kind of surge – one that will take scores for both parties on NTU’s next Rating of Congress to new and fitting heights. Time will tell if lawmakers translate their words on behalf of limited government to deeds that will show up on our scorecard – and in taxpayers’  wallets." – Duane Parde, NTU President

NTU is a nonpartisan, nonprofit citizen group founded in 1969 to work for lower taxes, smaller government, and economic freedom at all levels. To view the entire 2010 National Taxpayers Union Congressional rankings, click here.
