Berg Supported Cut, Cap and Balance Act Passes House

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Rick Berg today voted for the Cut, Cap and Balance Act of 2011, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives this evening by a final vote of 234-190.

Berg, a co-sponsor of the Cut, Cap and Balance Act of 2011, spoke on the House floor earlier this afternoon in support of the legislation. “We cannot do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result,” Berg stated. “Americans have tightened their belts and they’ve made the tough choices. It’s time for Washington to do the same.”

Berg’s full remarks may be found here.

The Cut, Cap and Balance Act of 2011 now goes to the Senate for a vote.  If approved, it will answer the President’s request for an increase in the debt ceiling while putting short-term, mid-term and long-term measures in place to ensure that real spending reforms are made.
