This rare French map depicts the mid-Atlantic colonies during the
American Revolutionary War. Little is known of the cartographer,
identified only as Michel, but he also produced a companion map
of the northern colonies during the same year. This map reflects
the French interests in events in America, which by 1778 had become
direct national support of the American war for independence. The
map is an important addition to the Library's strong collection
of Revolutionary War maps.
