Hillary Clinton will not testify in Benghazi hearing

Following a fainting incident and subsequent concussion, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will not testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday regarding the Benghazi attacks, a Senate aide told POLITICO.

Though the faint happened earlier this week, the office of Sen. John Kerry, Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman, and the press were not notified of the incident until Saturday, POLITICO reports.

‘We’ll Be At Your Daughter’s Soccer Game!’

LANSING — A speaker at a union protest against right-to-work legislation said if Gov. Rick Snyder signed the bill he would get “no rest” and that protesters would be at his ”daughter’s soccer game.” (Video below).

The Rev. Charles Williams II made the comments Tuesday to loud cheers before a group of thousands of union workers. After his promises to harass Gov. Snyder, he introduced Rep. Richard Hammel, D-Mt. Morris Township, and House Minority Leader Tim Greimel, D-Auburn Hills. Williams is a Detroit-area pastor and left-wing activist.

Here We Go Again – The Post-Shooting Blame Game

Here we go again.  The left, which was so fond of reminding Americans how terrible it was to “politicize a tragedy” just a few months ago, has predictably moved quickly to capitalize on an absolutely horrific mass-shooting at a grade school in Connecticut.  Within hours of the appalling news, gun control rallies were held outside of the White House, the media was calling for tougher laws, and liberals were demonizing the NRA.

Although the shooter, who was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, has miraculously avoided any fault for his evil acts by much of the punditry, it’s probably only a matter of time before specific Republicans are identified as particularly blameworthy (perhaps Sarah PalinJeb Bush, or the Tea Party).

Eric Holder

Why Eric Holder’s suggestion that the U.S. should automatically register voters is a terrible idea

The United States should consider automatically registering voters, Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday at an event at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston. which uproots the notion of responsibility integral to the electoral process.

Holder’s statements ignore the foundation of effective democracy: active and thoughtful citizen engagement.

Obama press conference

Marijuana Not High Obama Priority

President Obama says recreational users of marijuana in states that have legalized the substance should not be a “top priority” of federal law enforcement officials prosecuting the war on drugs.

“We’ve got bigger fish to fry,” Obama said of pot users in Colorado and Washington during an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Barbara Walters.

“It would not make sense for us to see a top priority as going after recreational users in states that have determined that it’s legal,” he said, invoking the same approach taken toward users of medicinal marijuana in 18 states where it’s legal.

Building a Showcase Campus, Using an I.O.U.

Some call it the Edifice Complex. Others have named it the Law of More, or the Taj Mahal syndrome.

A decade-long spending binge to build academic buildings, dormitories and recreational facilities — some of them inordinately lavish to attract students — has left colleges and universities saddled with large amounts of debt. Oftentimes, students are stuck picking up the bill.Read more at NY Times

Steven Crowder punched in the face AFP Michigan rally

In defense of Steven Crowder

Ever since the assault on Fox News Contributor Steven Crowder at the hands of a a group of out-of-control union members protesting right-to-work legislation at the Michigan capitol Tuesday, Crowder, who we profiled for Red Alert’s inaugural  ”30 Under 30″ list earlier this year, has been taking heat from the Left for the way he edited the video showing the assault. Crowder’s video of his brutal attack is being likened to conservative activist James O’Keefe’s selective editing of his investigative reporting videos, despite the fact that Crowder has no history of pulling stunts like that.

Crowder has also received criticism, including from conservatives, for putting himself in the dangerous situation in the first place and for purposefully provoking the the already fervent crowd.
