  1. I wish President Obama well with our troubled economy. I sincerely hope he will make an effort to work with Republicans in his 2nd term. My Republican colleagues and I stand ready to work with him on reducing the deficit and getting spending under control. I believe those two things are absolutely essential to boosting our stagnant economy and creating jobs. Republicans are looking for solutions, but not at the expense of compromising our bedrock principles on which we have been elected.
  2. My staff and I have assisted dozens of veterans with GI bill payment issues over the past week. If you or someone you know is having trouble, please have them contact my district office at 719.520.0055 for assistance.
  3. I am looking forward to tonight’s presidential debate on foreign policy. I hope the candidates address America’s need for resource independence. We rely on foreign countries for 50 percent of some of our critical minerals used in defense, manufacturing, and energy technologies.
  4. I spoke with members of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association at their meeting in Colorado Springs this morning. The industry contributes $40 billion to our GDP and employs more than 107,000 people. I am committed to protecting our job creators from EPA overreach and the coming fiscal cliff.

  5. I'm happy to join Congressmen Tipton (CO-3), Coffman (CO-6) and Gardner (CO-04) in recognizing this month as Wildfire Awareness Month. We're working to give state and local officials more say in the management of our lands so we can better mitigate the wildfire threat to Colorado.
