WHAT:
Biggert, in collaboration with the Village of Orland Park and the Orland Park Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a Federal Grant and Contracting Supermarket.  At the supermarket, professionals from area businesses, non-profit organizations, and municipalities will have the opportunity to: learn how to export their products abroad or contract with the federal government; shop for federal grants; or fine-tune their grant-writing skills.

WHY:
As part of her ongoing efforts to address unemployment at both the national and local level, Biggert is seeking to connect area professionals with new opportunities to expand and create local jobs.  This is the second such event to be held by Biggert, after her highly successful grant fair in April attracted over 600 local business leaders. 

“Businesses and organizations from all around our area are struggling to keep their doors open or prevent layoffs as they wait for an economic turnaround,” said Biggert.  “The event will help level the playing field so that businesses in our area – large and small – can compete more effectively for exciting new grant, contracting, and export opportunities that some may not even know about.” 

Federal agencies that will be on hand to discuss grant and contracting opportunities include: the Department of Commerce, the Department of Education; the Department of Energy; the Department of Health and Human Services; the Environmental Protection Agency; General Services Administration, the Small Business Administration; Export-Import Bank; SCORE; and more
