MEDIA ADVISORY: Biggert, State Officials Host Town Hall Meeting for Seniors

WHO:
-U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th)
-State Senator Randy Hultgren
-State Representative Darlene Senger
-State Representative Mike Fortner

WHAT:
Congresswoman Biggert and local state legislators are hosting a Senior Town Hall meeting to hear from seniors in the community and discuss the impact of recently-enacted state and federal legislation.

WHEN:
10 a.m. Central Standard Time, Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

WHERE:
Naperville Municipal Center
400 S. Eagle Street
Naperville, IL

WHY:
Following enactment of the Administration’s health care overhaul, which cut approximately $500 billion from Medicare and Medicare Advantage, many seniors are questioning how these and other new changes in the law will impact their coverage, care, and expenses.  Heightening these concerns are ongoing financial pressures – especially on seniors and those with a fixed income -- stemming from the recent economic downturn.  Biggert and other area lawmakers are hosting a Senior Town Hall to answer questions from seniors about state and federal legislation and listen to their views and concerns about health care, the economy, Social Security, and other important issues.  In addition, financial security tips and information about reverse mortgages will be presented.

“With so many changes taking place at the state and federal level, seniors are understandably concerned about how their pocketbooks and quality of life will be affected.  This is a great opportunity for us to hear their views and ideas, and to answer any questions they may have.  There is a lot of misinformation out there, and this town hall meeting will help seniors get the answers they need to make sound decisions and plan for their futures,” said Biggert.
