Biggert Seeks Interns for Willowbrook and Washington Offices

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th) is seeking college-age interns from the 13th Congressional District to work in her Willowbrook and Washington offices during the fall semester.  Interns are provided the opportunity to research casework and legislative issues, work with staff on special projects and outreach events, and assist with general office duties.  DC interns also help lead guided tours of the Capitol for 13th district constituents visiting Washington.

“Our interns get a unique behind-the-scenes perspective of how a congressional office runs.  It’s a wonderful learning experience and interns also can gain skills and knowledge that will help them in their future job hunt,” said Biggert.  “Each group of interns possess individual talents, goals and aspirations and it’s always rewarding to get to know them and their thoughts on issues facing our nation.”

Unpaid intern candidates should be motivated, personable, and detail-oriented.  They also must possess strong writing and communication skills.

“Serving as an intern in Congresswoman Biggert’s office has been an eye-opening experience.  It’s very interesting to hear what’s on the minds of constituents who call into the office and be able to relay their input to the Congresswoman.  I also was able to improve my ability to multi-task, since there are always so many different things going on during any given day,” said Naperville resident Walter Berkowicz, who interned in the district office during the summer.

The district and Washington offices provide students flexibility in setting their internship hours.  Whether a student can work only a few hours or several days per week, he or she is encouraged to apply.  Applications can be found on Rep. Biggert’s website at http://judybiggert.house.gov.  Interested applicants should email their application and resume to Abby.Milone@mail.house.gov.  For more information, call (630) 655-2052.
