Rehberg Statement on Backward Attempts to get State Department to Beg Saudi Arabia for More Oil Instead of Clearing Way for Domestic Jobs

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today released the following statement after Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) sent a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asking her to press Saudi Arabia to expand oil production to help reduce the cost of energy in the United States.  Last month, the State Department rejected the Keystone XL jobs project after more than three years of environmental review.

“We need to be building the Keystone XL Pipeline and creating more American made energy and Montana jobs not begging the Saudis for more oil.  President Obama and Senate leadership are completely out of touch in terms of understanding what it’s going to take to lower the cost of energy and get Americans back to work.  President Obama and his State Department should stop standing in the way of domestic infrastructure that will let us control our own fate in the United States.  Not only does that mean lower energy costs, but it means thousands of jobs right now.”
