Rehberg Secures $400,000 for Crucial Medical Equipment in Northeast Montana

WASHINGTON, D.C. Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg today announced $400,000 in funding for a CT Scan machine at Daniels Memorial Hospital in Scobey. The funding was included in the House Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Subcommittee bill for Fiscal Year 2010.

"This new equipment will help overcome the healthcare access barrier which too often exists in rural areas," said Rehberg, a member of the House Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Subcommittee. "I’m proud to be able to support this project and help make CT scans available to the people served by Daniels County Memorial."

Today, Daniels Memorial Hospital does not offer CT scan service. The funds will be used by Daniels Memorial Hospital to purchase a CT Scan machine, remodel the examination area and train staff.

"Daniels Memorial Hospital is honored the CT Scan project was included in the markup of the Labor/HHS/Ed subcommittee bill," said Dave Hubbard, CEO of Daniels Memorial Hospital "The cost savings to our rural hospital patients, as well as the taxpayer, will be significant. Less travel time in an ambulance or air ambulance, to access CT services translates to dollars saved. Congressman Rehberg and his staff are helping to bring a vital health service to our community, one that may well determine the longevity of our rural frontier facility."
