Rehberg Comments as House Passes His Job-Creating Keystone XL Language

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today released the following statement after his legislation to give the President 60 days to make a decision on the Keystone XL Pipeline passed the House of Representatives.  Rehberg’s legislation was included in a larger package to prevent a payroll tax increase in 2012.  It passed by a vote of 234-193 with 10 Democrats voting for it.

“The American people need jobs, and they want Congress to work together to help the private sector create those jobs.  Keystone XL is shovel-ready and it will create thousands of jobs.  It’s funded with private investment not tax dollars.  All we need is a federal permit – something that’s already taken 3 years.  Instead of looking for weak excuses to not support this legislation, I hope all the Senators who claim to support these jobs will find the courage to stand up to the party bosses and do the right thing for Montanans.”
