This National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP) briefing features the project Memento, presented by Herbert Van de Sompel of the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Michael Nelson from Old Dominion University.
Speaker Biography: Herbert Van de Sompel is the team leader of the Prototyping Team at the Research Library of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Team does research regarding various aspects of scholarly communication in the digital age, including information infrastructure, interoperability, digital preservation and indicators for the assessment of the quality of units of scholarly communication.
Speaker Biography: Michael Nelson is part of the Computer Science Department at Old Dominion University. He is active in the Open Archives community and an editor of the OAI-PMH & OAI-ORE specifications. He has developed many digital libraries, including the NASA Technical Report Server and in 2007 received an NSF CAREER award. Nelson's research interests include web science, repository-object interaction and digital preservation.
