Fires Continue in the District

As wildfires continue to damage parts of Texas, Dana and I continue to pray for everyone involved and for the brave men and women offering assistance. Please do not hesitate to contact any one of my offices if we can be of assistance to you or someone you know.

Events in the 19th District This Week

This week, I will be traveling throughout the district attending various events. On Wednesday, April 27, I will attend the Lubbock Military Academy Forum at the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center at 5:30pm, and the Abilene Military Academy Forum on Saturday, April 30 at Cisco College at 10am. These forums are a great opportunity for students interested in attending one of the Military Academies available to them. Come meet with representatives from the Military, Air Force and Naval Academies to learn more about each academy.

On Thursday, April 27th, I am proud to be receiving the Spirit of Enterprise Award from the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.  That same day, I will be attending a ceremony in Lubbock to congratulate new Americans as they become naturalized U.S. Citizens.  I will be in Abilene that evening to offer my congratulations to Dyess Air Force Base on the 50th Anniversary celebration of the C-130’s presence at the base.

Also important to note, on Friday, April 29th, I will be hosting a budget and spending listening town hall meeting at the Abilene Civic Center Auditorium from 9:30-10:30am. It’s time for America to have an honest discussion about spending and the unsustainable deficits. I welcome your input as we work to chart a course for America that creates jobs and does not steal the future from our children and grandchildren. I look forward to seeing you at the Civic Center this Friday. For more information on this event, call my Abilene office at 888-763-1611 or visit my website.

Mobile Texting

I am constantly searching for new ways to stay connected to the 19th district constituents, so I am now offering a new communications program that will allow you to receive updates instantly from my office through your mobile phone. I would like to invite you to join this exclusive mobile program so you will receive live alerts on breaking legislative news and events.  But most importantly, this new program will empower you to create an ongoing dialogue with me. I want to receive your feedback on the issues that matter most, and this new communications tool is a great way to share those personal insights. It’s easy to join, just click here or text the word RANDY to 467468 (GOPGOV).

Congressional Art Competition

Tomorrow, Tuesday April 26th, is the deadline for high school students to submit their applications for the Congressional Art Competition. The winning entry will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel in the United States Capitol for one year. This is an exciting way for high school students to showcase their artistic talents and creativity as well as represent West Texas and the Big Country. Contact Lisa Brooks in my Big Spring office via email or by calling (432) 264-0722.

Question of the Week

“Do you agree with the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen when he said that the national debt is the most significant threat to our national security?”

Please visit my website to submit your answer to this week's question.

Thank you for your continuing responses to our “Question of the Week.” Here are the results from last week’s question:
