Statement by Congressman Brian Higgins:

            “Today New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli announced he will complete an audit of the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA).  This review, which the public demanded and the public deserves, will provide us with a true picture of Thruway Authority operations and finances.  A 45% increase in tolls over a five year period is a steep price for New York drivers to pay, particularly residents in Western New York who have been let down by unfulfilled promises made by the Authority.  Once again Western New York has stood up for itself.  We’ve demanded answers and accountability.  Now, through an impartial audit, we will let the truth speak for itself.”
