Krauthammer Presses for Info from Hillary Clinton on Benghazi: ‘Is There Anything They’ve Told Us That Has Turned Out to Be True?’

On Special Report, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer once again asked why there has been no information released about the condition of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who suffered a concussion that prevented her from testifying before Congress about the Benghazi attack. He also expressed disbelief that the media in general has had no interest in pursuing the story over the last two weeks.

“We haven’t heard anything. We know as much about her concussion as we know about (Venezuelan president) Hugo Chavez. This is an open society, she is the secretary of state, she has disappeared,” said Krauthammer, who called the media’s handling of the Benghazi story since Sept. 11 “astonishing.”

“Everything that you hear about the Benghazi affair is not true,” said Krauthammer, (More…)

N.Y. State Rep. Greg Ball on Newspaper Publishing Names of Gun Permit Owners: ‘It Was a Very Stupid Idea’

A New York newspaper has faced outrage over the past few days after publishing the names and addresses of people with handgun licenses in an online map.

The Journal News says the information was obtained through public records and defends publishing it, but many are angry and feel the move creates severe security risks. Critics argue that criminals wanting to steal guns now have a list of possible targets, while also knowing which homeowners are likely unarmed.

The paper argued the info was easily obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, saying that after the Sandy Hook Elementary School attack, its readers are interested in the issue of private gun ownership. (More…)

The Dairy Cliff? Milk Prices Set to More Than Double at Start of 2013 Unless Congress Acts

On America’s Newsroom today, Dominic Di-Natale reported on the imminent “dairy cliff,” in which the price of milk could more than double on January 1. The current average for a gallon of milk is around $3.60, but if Congress does not take action a new farm bill, the price could soar to between $6 and $8.

The reason is that without a new law, the government would have to revert to a 1949 law that required it to purchase milk in massive quantities at twice the market rate. (More…)

Attorney Claims EPA Chief Lisa Jackson Resigned Over Alias Email Accounts

By Judson Berger

A Washington attorney suing the Obama administration for access to alias emails sent by EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson claims that a recent decision by the Justice Department to release thousands of those emails next month contributed to her resigning Thursday.

The agency did not offer an explanation. But Chris Horner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, said the scrutiny over the alias emails is clearly a factor. (More…)

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson Resigns

Environmental Protection Agency head Lisa Jackson says she’s stepping down after four years in the position, ending a tenure marked by high-profile fights with business groups and Republicans. Below is her statement:

I want to thank President Obama for the honor he bestowed on me and the confidence he placed in me four years ago this month when he announced my nomination as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. At the time I spoke about the need to address climate change, but also said: “There is much more on the agenda: air pollution, toxic chemicals and children’s health issues, redevelopment and waste-site cleanup issues, and justice for the communities who bear disproportionate risk.” As the President said earlier this year when he addressed EPA’s employees, “You help make sure the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat are safe. You help protect the environment not just for our children but their children. And you keep us moving toward energy independence…We have made historic progress on all these fronts.” So, I will leave the EPA confident the ship is sailing in the right direction, and ready in my own life for new challenges, time with my family and new opportunities to make a difference.
